Mary E. Delegal
Passed away on January 29, 2014
SAVANNAH - Mary Elizabeth Delegal, 75, died peacefully January 29 at Hospice Savannah after a short illness. She was born in Savannah September 19, 1938 to Lois Walden Delegal and Randal Dixon Delegal. Educated at Charles Ellis and Savannah High School from which she graduated in 1956, she earned a B.A. from Duke University in 1960, a MSLS from Columbia University in 1966 and an Ed.S from Georgia Southern University in 1985.
During her 30 year career as a librarian she worked at the College of Charleston, Armstrong State University, Jenkins High and Savannah High where she was head librarian for 18 years. Following retirement in 1991 she helped to establish and develop the St. Peter's Church Library until her death.
Survivors include long time companions Claudette Warlick and Anne Smith; cousins Alfred Vick Claudia, Eunice Delegal McDaniel Olin, Marian McDuffie and their families , many Robinson and Fraysse cousins and hosts of devoted friends.
Funeral: St. Peter's Episcopal Church on Skidaway Island at 11:00 Monday, February 3rd followed by interment in the church memorial garden and a reception in the parish hall.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Peter's Episcopal Church Mary Delegal Memorial Fund or to Hospice Savannah.

We will miss the lunches we tried to have for birthdays but as we all knew, it was just to keep in touch and lean on if needed. We will miss those times and all the many good times we had in the past 30+ years. Most of all I was happy to 'Drive Miss Mary'.
